Working with the Central Medical Stores
Through USAID’s Supply Chain Management System project – funded by PEPFAR and implemented by Management Sciences for Health –. an IDEAS staff member collaborated in the development of a financial sustainability model for a private-sector non-profit organization to take over the Central Medical Stores from the Ministry of Health. The model enabled the organization to estimate the costs of their operations and use this information to calculate the required markup for the medicines which they would buy and ship out to health facilities.
Global Fund Round 8 HIV/AIDS funding and Round 9 proposal, development
With PEPFAR funding, IDEAS worked with the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) to analyze gaps in HIV/AIDS programming in preparation for submission of the proposal for Round 8 of the Global Fund. Collaborating with the public and commercial sectors and civil society groups, IDEAS facilitated the CCM’s efforts to prioritize interventions, create the framework for implementation, develop the workplan, and establish the monitoring and evaluation plan. For the Round 9 submission, IDEAS led a team of advisors to help the CCM develop a cross-cutting strategy to strengthen systems for HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria. The IDEAS team then worked with each disease-centered team to prepare a comprehensive implementation approach. Finally, IDEAS led the development of the proposal submitted to the Global Fund.
