IDEAS was formed in October 2007 as a member-owned consulting business, dedicated to developing the capacity of organizations, institutions, and governments working in the health and social sectors. Our focus is on primary health care, emphasizing maternal, child, and reproductive health.
We collaborate with organizations that serve the most disadvantaged populations – rural, poor, migrant and uninsured. Our health experience includes child survival, maternal health, reproductive health, HIV-AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and chronic diseases.
Who We Are
We are a multidisciplinary group of talented and experienced international public health professionals. We have both international and domestic experience, and believe that our strategies and approaches are relevant and effective in both settings.
We share a wide network of experienced and respected international public health experts. We are able to draw on this network of talent and expertise to augment the capabilities of our core team.
Boston Connections
Many of us are deeply engaged in the intellectual community in which we live, supporting young and mid-career students, teaching classes, and contributing to academic programs at Harvard, MIT, Boston University, Brandeis, and Tufts.
In addition, our connections in the Boston area give us access to some of the most creative minds in the developed and developing worlds.
Ownership and Management
IDEAS is an employee-owned organization, classified by the US Government as an “emerging small business.”
IDEAS functions much like a cooperative, providing administrative and management services to our employees or members, who work from their homes or client offices but meet regularly as a group and communicate with each other frequently.
The leadership team, comprised of our four officers (President, Technical Officer, Financial Officer, Operating Officer), meets twice per quarter and is responsible for developing organizational policies and ensuring the quality of our work.
